Today is the first of many writings that'll be about this very topic. The hands of WWE are large and they have to be involved in almost every aspect of wrestling as a whole. I have always seen them as a torch barer in the industry due to their past work. As of late, my view has changed. They're less of a torch barer and more of a hobo with a lighter who wants nothing more than to talk about 1994. The ideas they have now that are placed on Fox aren't great and that's me being nice. From the draft list being published early and then not changed when the show was called, making the mystery of the draft gone. To the firing of Eric Bischoff do to "low ratings", which he wasn't involved in. The company has not adjusted well to the AEW hype.
Hell in the cell was the worst show WWE has put on this year based on timing and the characters involved. AEW is killing it as far as viewership, talent, and internet hype. However, WWE has decided to shit out a match that is both boring and bad. This isn't even the talents fault, the production is to blame for this. Vince knows he needs to step up and make a splash especially since he just got his Fox deal. Why then did he book it like this? I have theories.
First off, he was trying to be edgy. We saw this a few years ago with Bray and Orton at WrestleMania when bugs were projected onto the ring. He feels that is the best way to get people into The Fiend but he shouldn't touch the character. His ideas are not what is needed for the character and in the long run only hurts it. Another theory is that he is a try hard who wants show the world to see that he's still got what it takes. But, he over produces everything from the lights to the commentary to even the creative. To me, a little goes a long way. Honestly, he needs to back off and let those who have ideas that are good put in the work and let his company make a good product. His micro management isn't making him anymore money and its only going to make his life harder going forward.
AEW has everything to gain and nothing really to lose. The ball is in their court and judging by how the shows have been, they're in no threat to lose steam anytime soon. WWE has been around forever, the company dates back all the way back to the forties. They have history and that makes them the big dog in this war. But, if they can't stop and realize what's making them horrible is the guy running the ship than the war is already over. Big daddy Vince needs to step down and move into retirement.
The move to make NXT a rival to Dynamite is slowly turning into a joke. The company needs to let the developmental brand stay that way. Moving guys back to NXT only hurts the idea of the show and moving forward its only going to lead to its eventual cancellation. If you only show guys we all know and don't properly take care of the brand its going to go the way of 06' ECW.
I hope that they change heads moving forward. Vince is a great mind and while he hasn't been solid as of late I would hate for him to wreck shop. He needs to move aside and let Triple H lead. NXT was his baby and it killed for a long time. He should be given the keys to the show and given the title of CEO. He knows that it takes to make a great show and how to tell an amazing story and he is apart of the McMahon family so honestly Vince doesn't lose the WWE. The old ass needs to take a seat and watch as his son-in-law turns it around. Because if he doesn't, the WWE will become WCW over night.
